Misjudged is the twelfth episode of the first season in Dragon Booster. It aired in Canada on March 1, 2005, in USA on March 5, 2005 and in Australia on May 5, 2005.
Plot Summary[]
The episode opens with Khatah and Phistus competing against the Dragon Flares Crew in a Drag-Ball game. Artha and Parmon team up to compete against Moordryd and Cain in the next match. Kawake, the leader of the Will of the Dragon Crew, who is a twenty times champion and the only undefeated champion of Drag-Ball, is invited to referee their match. Kawake remarks that he is honoured that fans still remember him and tells Artha that he knew his father Connor, who was a great man. A brief altercation emerges between Kawake and Moordryd, when on Moordryd's asking, the former remarks that he has not heard anything good about Moordryd. Moordryd teases that Kawake quit Drag-Ball at the pinnacle of his success after his accident. Kawake replies that he has returned from retirement to share his knowledge.
Kawake asks Parmon to forfeit the match since his gear was inappropriate and could make his dragon lose balance. Moordryd dares Kawake to replace Parmon and compete alongside Artha. Kawake accepts under pressure from the cheering audience and decides to teach him a lesson.
The game is tied at 2-2 and the next goal will decide the winner. Kawake, who has the ball, is ramming a stunned Cain while Artha is blocking Moordryd. Artha asks Kawake to mag-off his dragon and run towards the goal chute but Kawake refuses, to everyone's surprise. Cain snatches the ball from Kawake and runs towards the goal chute, bagging the victory.
After the game, Artha, frustrated from his loss to Moordryd, enquires from Kawake why he did not score. Kawake reveals why he had retired from the game five years ago -- a crash had paralyzed both his legs. He feels misjudged and goes back to the Drag-Ball arena, where he meets Word Paynn. Paynn sympathises with Kawake but he is apprehensive of Paynn trying to start another Dragon-Human War. Paynn claims to have located an old shedding ground of the Grey Draconium dragons and that Grey Draconium will allow him to build new legs for Kawake. He wants Kawake and his dragon, Rumbull (who was remarked to be the mightiest Earth class dragon on the planet by Artha earlier), to dig for it and leaves him with a map. Paynn later reveals that he intends to use the Draconium to create Wraith dragons.
Artha wants to apologize to Kawake and visits the Will of the Dragon Crew's compound with his friends, only to find it deserted. They discover Paynn's excavation map. Parmon observes that the excavation would require digging through one of Work Town's support braces which can cause a deadly avalanche. They reach the digging site and try to convince Kawake to stop, but Kawake does not relent. The support brace cracks and reveals Black Draconium. Kawake realizes that he has been tricked by Paynn. The ground splits and the Penn Racing Crew falls into the crack. Artha activates his Dragon Booster armour and with the help of Beau's Furox form, is able to suspend the others from a rock in the crack using Lance's Repel Gear. He flies out to stop the avalanche.
Dragon Booster mag-jumps to arrest a falling chunk of the support brace. Kawake is hesitant to help him because of his bad choices. Dragon Booster assures him that the Penn Crew is saved. Kawake comes around as a projectile is about to fall on Dragon Booster. Dragon Booster seals the crack in the brace along with the Black Draconium using Kawake's dig hammer and vanishes. The Penn Crew reconcile with Kawake who has finally gained confidence in his abilities.
