Plot Summary[]
At the Down City Council, Pyrrah and Moordryd are arguing with Phistus over taking turns heading the Council. Word Paynn appears to offer the crews a little job: retrieve undamaged a metal box containing an ancient artifact known as the Furox from an ancient, secret fortress known as the Scale Citadel. Whoever will obtain it for him will be greatly rewarded. As the crews set off, he reveals to Moordryd that the artifact is actually a powerful Bone-Mark protected by layers of deadly booby-traps that no one has ever survived. Moordryd decides to retrieve the Furox himself.
Pyrrah and Phistus are the first to reach the Citadel but fail to best the traps and barely manage to come back alive. Pyrrah realizes she is not fast enough and decides to look for an alternative way. Meanwhile, at the All-City Race, Kitt Wonn gives Artha Penn racing tips, demonstrating how to overtake by utilizing the wind boost from racers in the front. Lance & Parmon warn Artha of an approaching bottle-neck -- while Kitt decelerates because no one is in front of her, Artha uses her technique to overtake her, winning first place. After the race, Artha becomes conceited as he gives no credit whatsoever to Kitt not realising that Kitt overheard everything. She shouts to Artha about being unappreciated and runs off. Pyrrah sees the squabble as a perfect opportunity to trick Kitt into getting the Furox bone-mark for her under the guise of a Dragon Flare initiation test.
At the dragon temple, Mortis tells Artha about Word's plan to revive the Furox. Artha heads to the Citadel and finds Kitt trying to infiltrate it. He activates Dragon Booster armour, warns her about the bone-mark and tries to find out who put her up to the task. Kitt explains that Pyrrah & the Dragon Flares crew are the only ones who appreciate her and Artha is no friend of hers. Dragon Booster attempts to prove her wrong and removes the amulet to reveal his identity. Kitt is shocked and angry, thinking he had kept it a secret till now and storms off to get the bone-mark.
Kitt overcomes the traps and stalls them. She collects the ancient box just as Pyrrah catches up with her, taking the Red Draconium box and opening it to peek. Moordryd also shows up and reveals to Kitt Pyrrah's manipulation. He demands Pyrrah give him the bone-mark to deliver to his father but Pyrrah is possessed by the spirit of Furox, claiming that her new power will allow her to rule the council. Phorrj mag-locks the bone-mark which transforms them both into Furox reincarnates.
Moordryd escapes, leaving Kitt at Pyrrah's mercy. The Dragon Booster rescues her as Pyrrah attempts to escape the citadel. Lance and Parmon appear and Cyrano rams into Pyrrah, stunning her. Kitt plans to re-activate the traps to trap Pyrrah in the citadel. They make time by knocking the temple lights out and using their thermal vision to communicate via hand gestures. Kitt is unable to activate the traps before the lights turn back on. A possessed Phorrj mag-blasts them but misses and ends up activating the traps.
Beau has another vision of how the original Dragon of Legend dealt with Furox. He draws mag-energy from Kitt, Parmon and Lance and shoots a hyper-charged mag-burst at Phorrj, disintegrating his mag-lock on the bone-mark and freeing them from Furox's control. The bone-mark falls into an abyss but Moordryd finds it even as he reports failure to Word. Artha apologises to Kitt and Lance jokingly tells her that Artha has feelings for her.
